Bruce Museum In Greenwich Hosts Lecture On Sargent's Landscape Paintings

GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Bruce Museum in Greenwich will host an art lecture on “John Singer Sargent and Landscape Painting” on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 6-8 p.m.

Erica E. Hirshler, Croll Senior Curator of American Paintings, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, will explore Sargent’s fascination with landscape painting, from his earliest sketches of the Alps to his engagement with Impressionism in the mid-1880s and his glorious abstracted mountain imagery of the 20th century. 

This talk is offered in conjunction with the Bruce Museum’s current exhibition: Alfred Sisley (1839-1899): Impressionist Master.

Before the lecture, Museum galleries will be open and a wine and cheese reception will be served until 6:30 pm. Advance registration is suggested on Bruce Museum Eventbrite.com: free for Bruce members, $10 for non-members. At the door: $10 Bruce members, $20 non-members.
